Dentures & Partials
Dentures and partials require regular care and good oral hygiene.
Rinse your appliance under running water after every meal, to remove any food particles. Use an approved denture cleaner every day. Be sure to rinse your appliance after soaking it in the cleaning solution. When you are not wearing your appliance, keep it in the case, in water, to keep it hydrated.
Be careful when handling your denture. We recommend you stand over a folded towel, or a sink filled with water, in case you accidentally drop the denture. Inserting and removing a new denture will require some practice. You should take your denture out at night when you sleep.
Your new appliance might need some adjustment after you have worn it for 24 hours. This is normal, and can be done in a small amount of time at the office, at no charge. Please call the office so we can adjust it for you as soon as possible. Remember, it is not a good idea to attempt to adjust your denture yourself!
It is normal during the first few weeks for your new denture to feel awkward or bulky. However, most people soon become accustomed to wearing it.
Finally, replacing your missing teeth should make eating a more pleasant experience. Start out by eating soft foods that are cut into small pieces. Remember to brush your natural teeth and gums regularly as directed by Dr. Chase or Dr. Hypes.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please call the office.
